Johanna Richter, MS, RDN, NBC-HWC (she/her) is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and National Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach. Enjoy Food Again.

I’m here to help you reconnect with food in a positive way. Food is so much more than just an energy source. It gives us nourishment, comfort, and satisfaction. Food plays a significant role in our health. It supports growth, healing, and sometimes helps to manage health conditions.

But, everything has limits. Despite its essential and supportive role, food is not literally medicine. Although potentially therapeutic, it cannot cure or permanently change any body. This is because nutrition from food is extremely complex, dynamic, and individualized.

The personalized nature of nutrition is increasingly disregarded. Oversimplified concepts and misinformation drive food trends and diet fads. Inequities and social comparisons perpetuate feelings of shame and guilt about our bodies and health status. My intention is to provide inclusive nutrition care that respects and values the complex, unique needs of each client.

I specialize in helping folks who are experiencing disordered eating, especially when complicated by digestive health conditions. Food stress, restrictions, binges, guilt, and avoiding social situations are a few symptoms of disordered eating. These symptoms can be present in anyone at any time. But, they are more common after receiving advice to restrict diet for health reasons, like the low FODMAP diet for IBS/SIBO, treatment of allergies/intolerances, weight-loss diets for PCOS or any reason…

I fully support Health At Every Size® and I do not work on restricted diets for weight loss.

No one plan or approach works for everyone

Everyone has different experiences and needs when it comes to food and nutrition. Recommendations are evidence-based and consider your personal situation and health conditions.

I specialize in digestive health and eating disorders, but I understand that our lives are often complicated by more than one health condition. My experience also includes working with the following:

  • Diabetes (Type 1, Type 2, Gestational)

  • Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD 1-3)

  • Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS)

  • Multiple Sclerosis

  • Body Image Concerns (Health At Every Size® / Non-diet approach)

Focus on the food, not numbers

My goal is for you to learn to eat what works for your mind, body, and life. Receive counseling, education, and support focused on changing your life in terms of food, not numbers.

Learn to eat based on your feelings of hunger, energy levels, and medical conditions. Experience food in ways that consider your busy life, along with personal challenges and limitations.

Forget the restrictive diet mentality

Replace guilt with confidence in your ability to understand your own nutrition needs. Restricted diets are impossible to maintain. Instead, try a personalized approach that considers your medical history and intuitive needs. Add nutritious foods in new ways that help you feel satisfied, support your health, and fit your lifestyle.
